Git 2.56.0-rc2 Released

The second release candidate for Git 2.56 shipped with support for committing loose objects 4GB and larger, fixing prior issues staging and unpacking large blobs. It also fixed a bug where parallel checkouts could abort with a stack-smashing error.
Git 2.56 final remains on track for release around the end of September 2026, ahead of the larger, breaking Git 3.0 expected later this year.
