Platform-Independent SIMD in Go
By BIOS Founding Team

The Go team introduces an experimental portable simd package in Go 1.27, built on the architecture-specific archsimd package. It is enabled with GOEXPERIMENT=simd, and vector types are size-agnostic, such as simd.Uint8s and simd.Float32s.
Operations missing from the hardware are emulated, so the same code runs on amd64, arm64 and wasm. The post also covers GODEBUG=simd controls, a ToArch() escape hatch for architecture-specific code, and a Go 1.28 roadmap that includes SVE support.
